Girls-only water polo programme
We will deliver a structured, girls-only water polo programme in the Winchester area, designed to support confidence, enjoyment, and long-term participation in sport.


Location
Sessions are planned to take place in Winchester college and Winchester Sport & Leisure park
Session structure
Monthly girls-only sessions (September 2026 launch).
Next: More frequent sessions as numbers increase.
Future vision: Weekly girls - only training, regional fixtures and festivals, and clear pathways into clubs and regional development.
90 - minute sessions
Focus on fun, skill development, and team play
Inclusive and supportive coaching environment


Who it’s for
Girls aged approximately 8–12
Confident in the water (able to swim 25m)
No prior water polo experience required


Capacity
Approximately 15 - 20 participants per session
Small group sizes to maximise engagement and confidence
Coaching model
Sessions will be delivered by experienced, DBS-checked coaches with backgrounds in water polo, education, and youth development.
We will also support girls who wish to continue into local clubs, helping create a clear pathway from participation to long-term involvement in sport.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is a priority for NextWave Aquatics. Our designated Safeguarding Lead is Lizzie Knight, and all activity follows Swim England Wavepower safeguarding policies and procedures.
